Care Guide: Preserve the Magic of Your Ikokai

At Ikokai, every accessory is a piece of art handcrafted with dedication. Due to their artisanal nature and maximalist design, these pieces require special treatment to maintain their shine, structure, and color for a long time.

Here is how to look after your investment:

1. The Golden Rule:
"Last on, first off" Your accessories should be the finishing touch to your outfit.

-Put them on after applying perfume, hairspray, body creams, or makeup. The chemicals in these products can dull crystals, stain textile fibers, or corrode metal finishes.
-Take them off first when you get home to prevent them from snagging on your clothes while undressing.

2. Say Goodbye to Moisture

Water is the main enemy of artisanal jewelry:

-Don't get them wet: Remove your pieces before bathing, washing your hands, or entering a pool or the sea. Chlorine and salt are highly corrosive.
-Watch out for sweat: If you are going to do intense physical activity, it's best not to wear your accessories, as skin pH can alter the color of the metal.

3. Individual Storage (Zero Tangles)

As maximalist pieces, they often have many elements that can get tangled or scratch each other:

-Store separately: Use the original Ikokai pouch or box for each piece. Avoid piling them up in a general jewelry box.
-Avoid direct light: Do not leave your accessories exposed to the sun for long periods (for example, on a vanity near a window), as some materials like resin or certain pigments can lose their color.

4. Delicate Cleaning

-Dry cloth: After each use, gently wipe the piece with a dry microfiber cloth to remove dust or natural oils from the skin.
-No chemicals: Never use metal cleaners, baking soda, or toothpaste. If the piece has a stubborn stain, use a cloth slightly dampened with warm water and dry immediately.

5. Handling and Use

-Avoid drops: Artisanal pieces (especially those with stones, ceramics, or resin) can fracture with a heavy impact against the floor.
-Be careful with weight: If your accessory is very large, avoid hanging it from weak structures; always store it on a flat surface so it doesn't lose its original shape.
